“Artbeat of the City”
From March 17th to April 1st Columbus will be alive with concerts, art events and shows. It all starts with the “Let there be Art” show and sale at the Columbus Museum and ends with “Plein Air Paintings of Uptown 2012” at the Joseph House Art Gallery. Every day during that two week time frame there will be one or more events happening; including a sculpture walk to see the new uptown sculptures, a Bo Bartlett master class, Columbus Symphony concert, Springer Children’s theater production, paintings of Dwight D. Eisenhower exhibit, and multiple CSU exhibits and concerts, just to mention a few. There will be publicity on all of the events as we get closer to the date.
CAG members have been invited to participate in two of the events. The first is called “ArchiSculpture,” a study of Columbus through the lens. Bobby Jones and Lee Brantley of the Joseph House Art Gallery will be in charge of the exhibit and any Guild member may submit properly framed photos. Deliver your photos to the Joseph House Gallery between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday on or before February 28. The exhibit will run from March 1-28 with pickup of photos on Thursday, March 29. A 30% commission will be taken by JHAG on any photos that are sold.
The second event is a Paint Out in uptown Columbus, March 17-23, anytime of day and anywhere in the Uptown area you prefer. Paint a street scene, the Riverwalk, or maybe one of the new sculptures. CAG members are invited to enter the work in a show and sale at the Joseph House Art Gallery called “Plein Air Paintings of Uptown 2012.” Properly framed paintings should be brought to the JHAG no later than Thursday, March 29. A reception is planned for Sunday, April 1 from 1-5:00 p.m. Unsold works can be picked up on Tuesday, May 1.
In order that we will know how many artists to expect, please follow this link to the Call for Entries, if you would like to participate.
