Rebecca Rich Kissel opened her first studio in West Monroe, Louisiana, in 1984, having just completed 3 years of graduate level study in fine art at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. She has been a professional portrait painter ever since, accomplishing well over 200 pastel and oil painting portraits. Since 1988, she has lived and worked in Columbus, Georgia. Most of her commissions are family portraiture.
Mrs. Kissel’s portraits are done from a combination of photo sittings and observation of the subject, and all are drawn by hand. It takes about a month to complete a portrait once it is begun. Her prices range from $2,000 to $7,000. Mrs. Kissel is booked through 2011, and is not accepting new clients at this time.
